Re: Dicenomicon 3.1.4 on IOS 7.02

That is fixed in an upcoming update to add iOS 7 UI support (the bug actually comes from adding support to OS X, which required making some changes that weren't fully ported to iOS as well)

(For now, you can flick up to re-roll a single die, or flick down to hold the die)

Re: Question on the nature of randomness...

The Dicenomicon factors in the accelerometer into the simulation, and even if the device is laying perfectly flat and not touched, there is still a tiny bit of (truly) random noise that seeps into the system (see <http://www.cis.uab.edu/saxena/docs/vsh-wisec11.pdf> for more details). Adding even a t...

Re: even number is a success, roll again on 6

You really can't do it as a die roll - you need to make a roll macro to do that. Though it might be possible in a future version to add the ability to declare roll macros inside formulas - perhaps something like this :rollmacro:("EVS",{ "if" : :quote:(face = 6) | "action" : "reroll" | "value": 1}, {...

Re: even number is a success, roll again on 6

That should be pretty simple - something like:

Condition: face = 6
Action: ReRoll
Value: 1

Condition: true
Value: 1 - face % 2

(Reroll on a 6, with a value of 1, otherwise the value is 1 if the face is even)

Re: "Pro" version

Yes. The "Pro" version will require iOS 7 and have significant new features. The "Classic" version will be updated to support (but not require) iOS 7 as well, but not include those new features - but all the current features (and several enhancements) will still be there. The Pro version is architec...

Re: The Dicenomicon: iOS 7 and OS X

#3 is in progress, with some refinements (ideally I'd like to narrow the number of apps down and use in-app-purchase to add new features, but knowing people impacted by certain patent-trolls makes me wary of using iAP). Right now I'm internally calling them "quick-start", "blue-box", "red-box", and ...

Re: Dicenomicon 3.1.3 and iOS7

So what goes on internally is that when the app is suspended, or flipped to the settings, I slowed the animation _way_ down (instead of 30 fps, it was at one frame every 1000 seconds - nearly 17 minutes). When you came back, it was set back to 30 fps. Under iOS 6 and earlier, it would start animatin...

Re: Dicenomicon 3.1.3 and iOS7

And then, if you leave it in the background "long enough" it works fine again. (Where in this case "long enough" means that I was investigating it last night and came back this morning and the dice started rolling). There are changed in the app "suspension" process (to get the screenshot used in the...

Re: Dicenomicon 3.1.3 and iOS7

Thanks for report (it's actually weirder than you'd expect - after switch screen the dice will sort of roll sometimes when you scroll the die bar at the bottom)

Re: Issue with creating textual d4

Make the scale smaller - the letters at standard scale are too large to fit nicely on a d4 without overlapping. (There is a bug where the preview doesn't always refresh entirely when you change one of the other three visible symbols for a given side, but that goes away when you scroll up/down)

Re: Addition Error

This is pretty interesting - I can't reproduce it anywhere.

Did you name the roll "d6-d6"? Because that formula at the top doesn't otherwise correspond to the dice rolled.

If you go to (i) => Game/Char => Feng Shui => Closed Roll: Gd6 - Rd6 => Roll does that work?

Re: Using the whiteboard background

I've never seen a problem with the whiteboard - when active (which you do by a gesture that you configure in the "active background" section), you get a button near the top left marked "clear" and a bunch of different marker colors to pick from near the bottom.
