Solitare- suggestions for your next version

Post by jwsapp » Wed May 02, 2007 1:09 pm

A couple of suggestions for your next version:
  • When a win is obvious, an indication on the board.

In Klondike, enabling double-clicking for Kings.

Automated finish when a win is obvious.
Thanks- great game.

Ditto the above, but consider adding/making these alterations, too:

1) Change label "Done" to "Play" (yes, you're "done" selecting and making variation etc settings., but point the way to the NEXT activity, rather than to what's just been concluded.

2) Make an automatic game reset ("New") upon exiting the dashboard while the You Won display is cranking. I exited the dashboard while Solitaire was doing that thing, floating the cards everywhere in the play area, and my mac slowed down to a just-barely-breathing crawl (15, 20 second response--or more--to any new input--by key or mouse. I had to go to the task list to see what the heck had swallowed all the cpu bandwidth.

3) Be more discriminating on using the card-identification pointer note. User only needs it when cards are stacked so close together that you can only see the # of pips and not the suit. So it's not needed in Golf or Golf pyramid; IS needed in variants Castle, Spider, SeaHaven, etc.
Or allow the user to turn the feature off and on.

4) You might consider implementing a feature of the old Seahaven Towers Mac software that revealed: (by popping the cards up a bit from their stack position)

Next play option(s) when you hit shift
Suit when you hit H, D, C or S
Pips/rank when you hit A or 1, Q, K, J, & 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0 (10)

5) Enable Solitaire-specific double-click speed

And to double-down the Great Game comment, GREAT WIDGET--Thanks. I've been addicted to mac solitaire since [shame on me--I can't remember 1st name] Sample came w/ Mac Extras.
