Formula Inspector

In whatever the next new version of The Dicenomicon is, it will include a "Formula Inspector" - sort of like an interactive post-mortem debugger. So, if you have the formula:

Code: Select all

@1 ← 3 Rd6 + 1 d+8 .
 if @1 > 20
   “Hit By” , ( @1 - 20 )
The formula inspector will look like this:
This is accessed after the dice are rolled (and thus the "post-mortem" bit), and allows you to inspect any of the expressions and see their values - in this case, you tap on the "D+8" node and see that there were two values rolled - 8 (which was rerolled) and a 4. (the little sigma there indicates a "default" die reducer of "sum", as opposed to things like "h" or "l").

This should be invaluable for tracking down problems in your custom formulas - no more guessing what the various values are, you'll be able to actually go in there and look at them!

Reminds me of Filter Forge. Should make formula creation a little more intuitive as well.
